Hair Color Questions & Answers

Here we have provided answers to a few of the most "Frequently Asked Questions" for achieving the Best Hair Color  results, or what might be considered a Hair Color Correction.

          FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

QUESTION:  My hair is colored medium brown and I want to be a light golden blonde.  Can I put a 'Light Golden Blonde' Hair Color on to get the color I want?

ANSWER:  No!  Color does not lift color.  Your color will have to be removed either by an Organic Color Remover or a Hair Lightener and then the proper color tone applied.  Consult with a Professional!

QUESTION: I am now a blonde and want to go back to my natural color, a dark brown.  Can I put on a 'Dark Brown' Hair Color to achieve this?

ANSWER:  No!  You have to put back the pigments that were removed.  This is called a Filler and can be applied before or added to the formula.  Consult with a Color Specialist or you could have green or purple hair!

QUESTION:  I just had my hair highlighted and it turned orange!  What can I do?

ANSWER:  The lightener was not left on long enough or the wrong color and developer were used.  This is a Color Correction and depends on the results you want.   Consult with a Professional!

QUESTION: I have been using Box Hair Color for many years. I am now over 50% grey and am finding that the same color is no longer covering my grey. Is there any thing I can do to get better grey coverage?

ANSWER: Grey hair is lacking pigment that needs to be mixed into the color you want to be. One color won't do it for you. By adding this pigment to your color formula and by using a developer specifically designed for grey coverage you should get complete and long lasting grey coverage. Consult  with a Color Specialist!

QUESTION: My roots are dark brown and the rest of my hair is blonde.
I want to be a light carmel brown.  How do I get my hair all one color?

ANSWER: Your roots need to be lightened by using a developer that matches how many levels lighter you want to be.  The rests needs to be matched by a color with a low volume developer or a Semi-Permanent Color as to not  lighten any more, or do any more damage to your hair. Consult with a Color Specialist!

QUESTION: My hair has been overly highlighted and is almost all one bleached out color and looks & feels very damaged. I still have very dark roots. My natural color is medium brown. I would like to go back to my natural hair color with a few Highlights. Should I just get a box of medium brown hair color and cover all of my hair with it and then put in some Highlights?

ANSWER: NO!!!! Do not attempt to do this! You could turn your hair green or purple! And you would damage your hair by coloring it & then trying to remove the color by highlighting it. I would suggest that you Lowlight your hair very heavily, but you have to be careful in selecting the right color for this. You have to know what the base of the color is. Pigment has been stripped out of the hair and it has to be mixed in with the formula for the color of your choice. Consult with a Color Specialist!
